CASE 04: XRAYS & USG OF WRIST

Radiograph of the wrist joint

It shows well defined, soft tissue lesion adjacent to ulnar styloid process.

There is no calcification or adjacent bony destruction.

Ultrasonography [ high frequency B mode/Color Doppler mode]:

It shows well capsulated, mixed echogenic area lateral and anterior aspect of ulnar styloid process.

There is no evidence of communication with radiocarpal [ synovial ] joint or with any vascular structure seen.

Area shows no significant Doppler activity with in the lumen of lesion or its wall.

Conclusion:

Dermoid cyst [ ectodermal inclusion cyst]

Biopsy and resection confirmed the diagnosis.
