RAD PEARLS

Avascular necrosis of the lunate bone

70% of lunates have multiple supplying vessels, while 30% have just one, explaining the latter's predisposing factor in this condition

X-Rays are usually followed by MRI

Bone oedema (high T2, intermediate T1) may be seen in the acute phase on MRI

Later, sclerosis leads to low T1 &T2
