DIAGNOSIS

Diagnosis is Esophageal Duplication Cyst

Points To Note:

Duplication is thought to represent a diverticulum of the primitive foregut or an aberr ant recanalization of the gut in embryogenesis.

Cysts are located in the middle or posterior mediastinum.

They may be indistinguishable from a bronchogenic cyst.

CT & MRI show a typical water-density, fluid signal mass.

This case was presented by Dr. Bhujang Pai, Consultant Radiologist, PD Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai, in the Film Reading Session on Day 1, at the 54th IRIA official meet at Manipal in Jan 2001.
