National Board of Examinations

 

Given below are the basic examination instructions, rules and fee structure of the National Board of Examinations, which holds examinations (DNB) in all specialities, including Radiology. This material has been placed on this site for information purposes only. This site has no relation to the National Board. FEE 

         

a) Registration fee                                                              Rs. 450/-

b) Examination fee:

i) Primary                                                                             Rs. 1500/-

ii) Final (Theory and Practical)                                          Rs. 2000/-

iii) Examination fee only for practical (2nd and 3rd

     chance)                                                                               Rs. 2000/-

iv) Thesis fee                                                                                      Rs. 1500/-

(To be remitted along with the thesis after passing the theory exam). MD/MS pass candidates are not required to remit the thesis fee.

c) Enrolment fee                                                                               Rs. 1000/-

d) Late fee                                                                               Rs. 50/-

             

Enrollment as a Diplomate of the National Board will be made only on receipt of the enrollment fee (by bank draft from a nationalized bank drawn in favor of the National Board of Examinations payable

At New Delhi) within two months of passing the final examination. Cash/cheques/IPOs are not accepted.

            

Note: For candidates appearing from foreign countries there will be an additional fee of Rs 250/-.

            

The registration fee (fresh entrants only) and examination fee should be paid in lump sum by a bank draft from the nationalized bank drawn in favor of the National Board of Examinations, payable at New Delhi along with the application by the stipulated dates.

ii) Absentees from the examination will forfeit their examination fee and will be treated as fresh candidates.

iii) The officers of the Board are available between 3 P.M. and 5 P.M. on working days except Saturdays and Sundays for any clarifications in respect of the eligibility. No request of the candidate will be entertained on the telephone with regard to the eligibility and disclosures of their results.

            

Examination Centers 

       

Theory

a) India   :

Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Mumbai, Calcutta, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Chennai, Trivandrum and Panaji.

b) Outside India : 

London,

           

Practicals (centers are in India only)

Venue will be notified to candidates in due course. Request for change in dates and venue of practical examinations will not be entertained (under any circumstances) once these are notified to the            candidates.

 

National Board of Examinations - Important Note

1.  Candidates who are provisionally registered with the board for getting training at an institution recognized by the board/ MCI shall apply along with the provisional registration certificate issued by the board failing which the form will not be considered and declared ineligible. No application shall be entertained after the stipulated date.

2.  Instructions in the booklet are liable to changes based on decisions taken by the board from time to time. Candidates are requested to refer to the latest bulletin or corrigendum that may be issued to incorporate these changes. 

3.  The candidates commencing the three-year/two year/one year post graduate training in broad groups and two-years/three years/five year’s postdoctoral training in super specialities with effect from January 1991

Session in institutions accredited by the NBE/MCI/ Universities will be required to submit thesis/dissertation and also a logbook duly certified by the supervisors for the final examination. Full details have been sent to the accredited institutions. 

4.  Fees once paid will neither be carried forward to a future date nor be refunded under any circumstances. 

5.  Requests for change in theory center will not be entertained if received after the stipulated dates i.e. 15th November for January Examination and 15th May for July Examination. 

6.     Requests will not be entertained for change in date or center for practical examinations under any circumstances. 

7.     Applications of candidates producing false or fabricated records will not be considered and will be further debarred from appearing in the future examinations of the board.

In Superspecialities, a candidate is not required to take the primary examination except in Neuro Surgery, Pediatric Surgery and Plastic Surgery (Five year direct course) where he is required to pass the common primary examination in addition to Part I and II (Final) examination.

The examination is held twice a year: a) The written examination for primary will be held on the 2nd Sunday (After the second Saturday) of January and July and Final on the second Saturday and second Sunday at the specified centers; b) Places and dates of practical/Clinical and Viva-Voce examinations will be notified to candidates in due course.
